Copper Basin – June 2011

No web-cams, limited cell service, and my favorite place to scout out. Dirt roads, 70′s country gold for the tunes, one or two cold beers and you know what I’m talking about. If you like to cross and work the river all day, probably not the place to go right now. If you stay in the upper reaches of all rivers shown, probably fishable. Still a little dirty, still a little high, but one of the great places to spend the day – runoff be damned!

See you down there tomorrow.

Mackay Rodeo June 18th

Grabbing the family and heading over the hill to “Idaho’s Wildest Rodeo” this weekend. Parade at 12:00, Rodeo starts at 2:00. Kids cash scramble, wild cow milking, cold rodeo beers, and as many rodeo hot dogs as you can stuff.

For those looking to fish, the Big Lost below the reservoir is at a fishable level – 300/400 CFS, but check the streamflow reports before you go. The road over Trail Creek is open and the scenery alone is worth the drive. Hope to see you there and “Let ‘er Buck”!

Breakfast of Champions

Check out our latest clip of Big Lost Rainbows chomping Baetis. Who said spring fishing wasn’t awesome? There have been great hatches as the day warms up towards the afternoon. Get up and get your fish on!
