November Fishing Report

The Big Wood River is hit and miss this time of year. Best fishing is late afternoons or the warmest part of the day. Overcast days help and on some days there are midges coming off with the fish on or near the top. A Trailing Shuck Midge in sizes 20-22 will take fish working on or near surface. You’ll need 6x and if you cant see the fly try putting on a adams parachute or small indicator to help you with the takes. Zebra midges in all colors and streamer fishing is also effective this time of the year.
Silver Creek is still seeing some small baetis and the occasional Mahogany Dun on cool overcast days. I also like to streamer fish this time of year. The fish are trying to put some weight on for the winter. Very few people there this time of year and the Point of Rocks fishes very well in the early winter.
Big Lost below the dam is good midge fishing on some days but always bring an assortment of Zebra’s and some bigger nymphs the Prince in the deeper pools.
