"You will never be subjected to a ugly place where trout live"
Jimmie Vaughan hails from the Lone Star State where he grew up the youngest of five siblings. Then, like many locals, he came to the Wood River Valley as a part-timer when his family bought a home in Warm Springs backing ’92. Bitten with the bug for this very special place, he decided to call it home and never looked back.
Jimmie has been fishing for as long as he can remember, first with his father every weekend in Texas in both salt and freshwater, then at every chance he could get in area waters. His most memorable guiding trip took place about 20 years ago with his father on the Kenai River where despite the cold and wet, he landed a 50-pound king salmon. “It was a great one, indeed,” he remembers. His favorite fly is the Mackay Special and said it’s hard to beat the brown hatch on Silver Creek in early summer.
Combination. “I would say I would love to accomplish both teaching and catching. I enjoy teaching guests the techniques to help them be successful and work with them for the reward of the catch.”

What folks say about fishing with Jimmy
“Dear Terry, Just wanted to drop you a quick line and let you know I had a blast fishing with Jimmy today. You have a first class shop/operation and Jimmy and I had a blast! He got me on some nice fish and was great about providing instruction. I love fishing but I am still a novice with only 20 or so days under my belt, so I love learning new techniques each time I go out. Thanks for the experience and look forward to my next trip.”Mike T.
“Jimmie was awesome. My wife had never been fly fishing and I had limited experience. Jimmie was patient with both of us and totally focused on teaching while also intent on having us catch fish. Great guy, great day, great experience.”Annomyous
