Fly Fishing Guide

True Native

For Patrick, fishing isn’t about a certain fly and a certain hatch and a certain game plan. “Fishing, for me, is about time well spent and making memories,” he said.

Few people can say they are truly Ketchum natives, but Patrick Harper can truthfully lay claim to this distinction. He has been in the Wood River Valley for 50 years and has seen many changes, but he has also seen what makes this an authentic mountain town, remain. He calls his father, Butch Harper, a legendary fisherman, his ‘hero’. He is the youngest in his family.

Patrick grew up fishing local waters with his family and is a veritable expert on the area. His first memory is of throwing a dry fly into Loving Creek when Buck Levy owned that property.
