A New Chapter for Silver Creek

Last week, Susie and I handed the keys to Silver Creek Outfitters to Matt and Suzanne Long. After 47 years in the Wood River Valley, it’s hard to put into words all that we’re feeling. More than anything, we’re grateful.

I first came to Ketchum as a fishing guide in the summer of 1979, intending to stay for the summer. Back then, Main Street had five gas stations and a car dealership. Blaine County had just two stoplights. What I remember most, though, is how welcoming the people were. I couldn’t have imagined that this valley would become my home, that a tiny fly shop would grow as it has, or that the people I met along the way would become such an important part of my life. Friends.

We couldn’t have done any of this without you. You hired our professional guides, shopped in the store, recommended us to your friends, and supported us through all the seasons and changes over the years. You came back season after season, bringing your children and now your grandchildren. We’ve had the privilege of welcoming four generations into the store at once. Every visit, every purchase, every guided day on the water, and every word of encouragement helped make Silver Creek what it is. We’re deeply grateful for your trust and support, and we hope you know how much it means to us.

And to our staff and guides, past and present: people make the place. Your knowledge, hard work, care, and commitment shaped Silver Creek every day. We couldn’t have done it without you.

Choosing who would carry Silver Creek forward was deeply personal. Many of you already know Suzanne. She grew up here as Susie Fisher, working in her family’s store, SNUG. Matt is an avid hunter and fly fisherman. They share our values, love this valley, and want to learn from the people who make Silver Creek what it is. We couldn’t be happier to have them lead Silver Creek into its next chapter.

The same staff, guides, and log cabin on Main Street will be here to welcome you. And I’m not going anywhere just yet. I’ll be in the shop through March, helping Matt and Suzanne settle in, so please stop by and let me introduce you.

Thank you for your friendship, your loyalty, and for choosing to support Silver Creek all these years. It’s been a privilege to be part of this community, and we’re humbled by the trust you placed in us.

All the best, Terry & Susie
