Fly Fishing guide

Sure to show you some reel fishing

“I particularly enjoy casting instruction.”

Kenton Mueller is a Huskie who grew up in Olympia, Washington. His first fishing memories are of catching sea-run cutthroat trout in his hometown. He was lured to Idaho by the big three things that make so many people never want to leave the Wood River Valley: fishing, skiing, and the limitless outdoors. While fishing local waters, Kenton loves the Parachute Adams for the instinctual rise to the fly.

Fun Facts about Kenton

  • He is an accomplished musician.
  • The best guide trip he ever had was on Silver Creek thanks to 12 hours of completely non-stop bug activity.
  • Kenton’s perfect end to a day on the water is talking about the day on the water! He loves to deconstruct the experience – why did the fish do what they did? What type of insects did they see? He finds joy in the details.
  • When he’s not fishing, Kenton plays and writes music, and enjoys tying his own flies.
What folks say about fishing with Kent

Everything was great as usual, my daughter went Fly Fishing for the first time and with Kent's help caught 2 large, 15-inch Cutthroat Trout, she was very excited.

John Sorgenfrei

Kent was very knowledgeable and supportive. Easy to be around and helpful in all aspects of the experience.

We had a great time with Kent!

Kent worked very hard to get us into fish. He was covering a lot of ground between my fishing buddy, making sure we had everything we needed for success. We had a fantastic day. Caught some some beautiful bows. So fun!

Jim Houston

I love fishing with Kent and my brother in law and nephew did too. So knowledgeable and willing to teach.

Gregg Lee

Amazing. We slayed the trout at your private pond. Kent is wonderful.

Marko Vujicic

Kent and Brent are total professionals and a pleasure to hang out with. Silver Creek wasn't fishing as well as I have seen in August, but the trico hatch turned on and Kent worked very, very hard. I haven't fished with Kent for years, but he reviewed my SCO profile and had a very good sense of what I liked. I was impressed. We also fished the Shark Tank and the Big Wood. Kent was patient with me on the Wood trying whatever I asked so we could get to the fish.

Randy Renick

This is my second guide trip with Kent. It was a great day and successful. This time I invited a longtime friend, and she had the best experience. The only thing missing, she said, was Brad Pitt! (A River Runs Through It) Thank you, Kent, for your knowledge, patience, and great conversation! Look forward to next summer!

Taite has guided me several times a year for 5 years now. When I recently hosted a week in Ketchum for my 16 year olds son’s three best friends and their dads, he assembled an awesome group of guides for us [Pat, Ewald, Carl, Guy, and Kent]. Our group consisted of first timers and more experienced anglers; the SCO guides made sure each person got the instruction and attention they needed to have a great time on the water. Despite the tough fishing conditions due to the drought, Taite and team put together several days of productive, enjoyable fishing on the varied fisheries around Ketchum. The SCO guides always go above and beyond to make sure the guests fishing experience is positive, productive and memorable. I very much appreciate their expertise, flexibility and attention to detail.

We fished at Silver Creek at our request. We fished the RR. Dry low water. No bugs. NOT Kent's fault, Kent was great!

Rick Davis

Kenton was excellent, would definitely use him again.

Kalman Edelman

Kent was a terrific guide, and I’ll be back to fish with him again.
