Lachlan Simmers is originally from the picturesque town of Norwich, Vermont and is currently a student at Wesleyan University in Connecticut. There, he is studying economics and playing lacrosse. But his family has deep roots in the Wood River Valley. “We had a small cabin north of Ketchum for a long time and in 2019 my family decided to try living her for a year,” he explains.
Like so many other people in similar situations, they stayed. When he is home, Lachlan fishes as much as possible and loves guiding. His favorite hatch are grasshoppers on Silver Creek. “It’s fun to see big fish that are normally super picky smash a big hopper,” he shared. “My favorite pattern, though, is the Chubby Chernobyl.
Guiding Style
“I would consider myself to be both a catcher and a teacher. It is really gratifying to teach someone a new skill that will help them catch fish in the future. With that being said, there’s no better feeling as a guide than seeing a trophy trout hit the net.”
