If I fished only to capture fish,

my fishing trips would have ended long ago.

Scott Connell has a self-declared insatiable passion for the outdoors, hunting and fishing. “Living in Idaho allows me to ‘be in it’ all day, every day,” he said. Scott can confidently tout Idaho as an excellent place to live, as he has lived many, many places. Born in California, he said growing up “we lived all over the United States, moving every time my father got a promotion.” He stayed in Illinois long enough to earn a B.S. in Marketing from Southern Illinois University, before continuing his travels. No matter where he lived, though, fishing was always a part of his life. “When I was about eight-years-old on a family camping trip in northern California, I hooked my first trout on a little spinning rod with salmon eggs,” Scott recalled.

“Feeling the tug on the end of my line, I was hooked for life!” As someone who loves to live in the moment, Scott’s favorite hatch is “what is going off right now!”

Fun Facts about Scott

  • Scott met his Swedish wife on safari while in Kenya.
  • His best fishing trip was one to celebrate his father’s 70th “He always had a dream of going to Montana to fly fish with his sons and we made it happen. It was a spectacular trip with phenomenal fishing, incredible vistas and for us to be able to share it together was the capper.”
  • A traditionalist, Scott thinks there is nothing quite as refreshing as an ice-cold beer at the end of a day of fishing while reminiscing about the highlights of the adventure.
  • When he is not fishing, Scott enjoys training his black lab, hunting elk, deer, and bear, fly tying, reloading, and horseback riding.

Scott was great. This is The third time we’ve gone fishing in Sun Valley and I think it was the best. Even though we didn’t catch a lot, the kids and I had a great time and learned quite a bit from Scott. The guys at the store were extremely helpful in getting outfitted and answering questions.
