Fly Fishing Guide

on taking people to the fish

"I love creating meaningful connections with the people I bring out that can extend beyond just fishing.”

Though Trey Pace grew up somewhere singularly beautiful, in Boulder, Colorado, Idaho stole his heart. Like many, he came for a season and will stay for a lifetime. Idaho’s rivers were the draw then and remain the draw now. Trey grew up fly fishing, and his first memory of the pursuit are of watching his father “effortlessly land fish after fish on dry flies as he stood in the river extremely frustrated, getting tangled, and breaking flies off in branches.” This early experience helped shaped Trey into the great guide he is today! His favorite guide trip to date was a three-day float down the Gunnison Gorge in the middle of a Salmon fly hatch with a group of guests from the east coast who were “in absolute awe of the number of bugs and huge trout feeding.”

Guiding Style

Flexible. “As a guide, I inherently love getting clients on fish, however I place a lot of emphasis on the holistic experience of being out on the water. There is plenty more to appreciate when the fishing is challenging and other things to work on and observe that can be more impactful to clients than putting a fish in the net. I love creating meaningful connections with the people I bring out that can extend beyond just fishing.”
